Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway
The Ubiquiti USG is a semi-professional router with a built-in firewall for SMEs. Thanks to advanced hardware and software, the router can handle up to 1 million data packages per second. This is very useful for example when you host a website or use a lot of peer to peer networks. With the Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway you can also set up a VPN connection between 2 networks, in order to, for example, make a secure connection between a home worker and the corporate network.
To handle the many simultaneous connections and amount of data, the Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway uses a fast Dual-Core 500 MHz MIPS64 processor that is supported by 512 MB DDR2 memory. The USG also has 2 GB of flash storage for all configurations and firmware.
The Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway has no built-in fans and is passively cooled to guarantee a quiet operation. It is possible to mount the Ubiquiti USG on the wall if desired. The router is supplied with power via an included 12 volt (1A) power supply and uses only 7 watts.
Unifi software
The Ubiquiti UniFi Security Gateway can be used in combination with the free Unifi controller software (minimum version 4) with which you can fully manage and configure the Ubiquiti USG. With the software you can see and coordinate all your Ubiquiti hardware at a glance. The software offers various monitoring tools and analysis tools to always keep an eye on your network in a well-organized manner.
The software is very comprehensive and can even manage multiple locations at the same time. You can monitor and manage these locations separately, and you can also create different LAN and Wi-Fi groups.
