The Netgear GS728TP has 24 Gigabit (1000 Mbps) ports, for a fast and extensive network. The Netgear GS728TP also contains four Dual Personality SFP slots to which fiber or copper lines can be connected. This switch is therefore very suitable for use in SMB environments.
Full PoE switch
For networks where PoE is required, the Netgear GS728TP is the ideal switch. If your phones, IP cameras or access points are PoE compatible, you can easily power them with PoE via a network cable. The Netgear GS728TP switch uses the 802.3af standard which is active on all 24 ports. In addition, the first eight ports also support PoE+ for connecting heavier equipment.
QoS & Security
The Netgear GS728TP does more than just connect multiple devices. That is why Netgear calls this model a 'Smart PoE switch'. One of the extra functionalities is giving priority to certain data, such as telephony or video conferencing, via QoS (Quality of Service). This prevents dropped phone calls or faltering video images.
In addition, the Netgear GS728TP includes 802.1x security for authentication purposes and ACL filtering based on MAC or IP address.
With support for SNMP v1 and v2, you can also monitor data and request reports on the health of your network. The Netgear GS728TP also supports SNMP v3 which enables data encryption.
Web based management
Installing the Netgear GS728TP is very easy. The switch can be easily installed and configured via your web browser using the web-based user interface (GUI). Settings related to, for example, QoS or security can be done in a few clicks.
